Two different activities, and on the same beach
Surfing It's standing on a board in a wave. It requires waves, so it depends on the weather and the season.
SUP, Stand Up Paddle, is paddling while standing on a wide board, in calm water. It's easier to start with and doesn't depend on waves.
Those who have never done either of the two usually start with SUP, because you can stand on it in the first lesson.
An hour and a half in a small group on the beach, with an instructor.
An hour and a half, a dedicated instructor.
An hour, two hours, or an hour and a half at sunset.
The same price as the Adventure, and half an hour less.
The difference between the cheap and the expensive is 800 THB
Anyone who wants To try it for the first time, cheaply, a group surfing lesson or an hour of SUP, both 1,000 THB.
Anyone who wants Full attention, a private surfing lesson at 1,500. In surfing this matters more than in SUP, because the difficulty is in timing, not balance.
and those who come for The experience, not the technique: Sunset SUP at 1,800. The same price as the longer Adventure lesson, and the difference is the hour of the day.
Short, but two of them really matter
An hour and a half in the water and direct sun, with no shade. This is the most important item here.
The board rubs against your chest and stomach while lying down. A thin shirt solves this completely.
You fall into the water a lot, and that's part of the lesson. A swimsuit that needs adjusting every minute is a distraction.
Paddling in the sun dries you out faster than you feel while in the water.
Questions we answer in advance
The board, the wetsuit, the minimum age, and the swimming level, write to us with the details and we'll get back to you with the school's answer before you book.
What's already known is written on this page: the lesson's name, its duration, and the price.
Three things whose answer varies, so we check them with you
What's included beyond instruction: Board, wetsuit, insurance. We'll check and get back to you with the exact answer before you book.
Minimum age and swimming level. A surfing lesson has different requirements than a SUP lesson, and it also depends on age and experience. Write to us with the details and we'll get back to you with the school's answer.
and what happens on a day without waves. Surfing depends on the waves, and SUP does not. A flat day is an excellent day for SUP and less good for surfing, so it is worth knowing the options in advance if conditions change.
The child's price, write to us with the age and we'll get back to you with the exact price.
We prefer to check this in advance rather than you finding out on site. It takes one message and saves a day.
and why most people get up on the board on the same day
A beginners' surfing lesson doesn't start in the water. It starts On the sand, an explanation of lying correctly on the board, of the movement that takes you from lying to standing, and of where to put your feet.
After that, you go into the shallow water, and the instructor pushes the board into the wave. The wave does the work, and your role is just to perform the movement you practiced.
This is the reason most people manage to stand up already in the first lesson, not because it's easy, but because The beginners' lesson is specifically designed for that to happen.
What doesn't happen in the first lesson is independent surfing in real waves. That takes several lessons, and that's completely fine, The goal in one lesson is the feeling, not independence.
The difference is the amount of attention, and that matters more in surfing than in other activities
In a group lesson The instructor is shared among several students. You get the same explanation and the same time in the water, but Fewer personal corrections.
In a private lesson The instructor stays with you throughout the entire lesson. In surfing this is worth more than in other activities, because almost every mistake is a small mistake in timing or posture, and only someone watching you at the right moment can correct it.
The practical recommendation: Those who come to try it once and have fun, a group lesson is definitely enough. Those who come because they really want to learn to surf, or who only have one opportunity, a private lesson will give them more for that same hour and a half.
The group size varies from day to day. Write to us how many you are and we'll get back to you with the group size on that date Before you book.
Two activities and five combinations
The cheapest is 1,000 THB, and there are two ways to get there: a group surfing lesson, or a one-hour SUP lesson. Both are a good entry point.
The two-hour SUP lesson It's the Adventure package, and it's the longest of all, two hours in the water and not an hour and a half like the rest.
And the sunset SUP lesson costs exactly the same, 1,800, and is half an hour shorter than it. In other words, what you're paying the difference for isn't time but The hour of the day: The water at sunset is calmer, the light is different, and the beach is emptier.
This is a completely legitimate choice, but it's worth knowing that's what you're paying for. Those who want maximum time in the water will take the Adventure; those who want the atmosphere will take the sunset lesson.
