What counts as "outside the Bangkok area"
The definition is set by the distance from the city, so a route that is not in the table gets its own rate. Write us the exact route and we will confirm it for you before booking.
A vehicle and driver for a whole day, not a single drive
Bangkok is a city where the distance between two points is measured in traffic jams and not in kilometres. Anyone planning a day with several stops, the Grand Palace, Wat Pho, a floating market, and then back to the hotel, pays for each drive separately, waits for a vehicle at every stop, and explains the next destination all over again each time.
A private driver for the day solves all three: the same vehicle and the same driver wait for you throughout the day, the route is set in advance and can be changed as you go, and the price is fixed before you set out.

When it pays off
Going out of the city
Ayutthaya, Kanchanaburi, Khao Yai or the floating market, where there is no convenient transport back, and the driver waits for you at every site.
A family with children
The suitcases, the stroller and the shopping stay in the vehicle throughout the day, and there is no need to drag them between sites.
A rainy day
In the rainy season a free taxi on the street disappears exactly when you need it. A vehicle that waits does not depend on that.

- The driver is not a tour guide. He drives, waits and knows the way; explaining the sites is not part of the service.
- Entrance fees to sites, paid parking and meals are not included.
- A standard working day is eight to ten hours. A longer route: we will confirm a rate in advance.
- Most religious sites in Bangkok have a dress code: shoulders and knees covered. It is worth knowing before you set out.
Routes
Popular routes for a day with a driver
These are the routes we are asked for most. The travel times are from central Bangkok, without traffic; at rush hour they are longer, so it is worth setting out early. A route that is not here can be built the same way: write us the stops, and we will send back a confirmed rate before booking.
Ayutthaya: the ancient capital
About 80 km north, about an hour and a half's drive. The remains of the Siamese kingdom, a UNESCO World Heritage Site: the Buddha head wrapped in tree roots at Wat Mahathat, the temples of Wat Chaiwatthanaram on the riverbank and the open field of ruins. The sites are spread over several kilometres, and this is exactly where a vehicle that waits at every stop saves haggling all over again with a tuk-tuk on every corner. On the way, a little before the city, you can stop at the Bang Pa-In Royal Summer Palace, pavilions on a lake and well-kept gardens, and turn the day into two sites without significant extra driving.
Damnoen Saduak floating market and the Maeklong railway market
About 100 km south-west, about an hour and a half to two hours. The floating market is lively mainly in the morning hours, so the departure is early. On the way you can stop at the Maeklong railway market, where the stalls fold away several times a day to make room for the train. Two markets on the same morning is exactly the day on which a private driver pays off: no public transport between them and no waiting.
Kanchanaburi and the bridge on the River Kwai
About 130 km west, about two and a half to three hours. The bridge, the Allied war cemetery and the museum on the Death Railway. Adding the Erawan Falls lengthens the drive by about an hour each way; such a day may run over ten hours, so it is worth writing us the full route in advance and we will confirm it.
Khao Yai
About 180 km north-east, about three hours. The oldest national park in Thailand, forests, waterfalls and viewpoints, and in the area around it vineyards and farms. The route appears in the table as a separate row, Bangkok, Khao Yai.
Pattaya
About 150 km south-east, about two hours. A day in Pattaya with stops along the way, or back to Bangkok the same evening. This route also appears in the table as a separate row. Anyone going to Pattaya one way only, with suitcases, is better suited to a regular private transfer, and it is on the Transfers in Bangkok and Pattaya page.
A day in the city
The Grand Palace and Wat Pho in the morning, before the heat; Wat Arun across the river; Chatuchak market at the weekend or a riverside mall in the afternoon. In the city itself the drives are short but the traffic jams are long, and the advantage is that the vehicle waits: there is no need to look for a free taxi on leaving each site. And if the day does not end with the last site, the driver can drop you at a night market or a restaurant on the way back to the hotel, within the day's hours agreed in advance.

How to choose a vehicle and book
Which vehicle suits you
The choice is set by the number of passengers, as in the table: a sedan for up to two passengers, an SUV for three or four, a van for five to nine. If you have large suitcases, a baby stroller or planned shopping, mention it in your enquiry; sometimes the larger vehicle is more comfortable even when the number of passengers fits the smaller one. A child who needs a safety seat: write their age, and we will check whether it is possible.
What to send us
Date, pick-up time and hotel name; the list of stops in the order you want; the number of passengers and the number of suitcases. From this the vehicle type and the price row are set, city, outside the city or one of the fixed routes, and you get a fixed price before you pay. If you prefer to decide on the day itself, that is fine too: write the general area, and the driver will adapt.
A few tips for the day itself
Set out early: in Bangkok the difference between leaving at seven and leaving at nine can be an hour in traffic. Leave in the vehicle whatever you do not need at the sites; it is waiting for you. Keep a little cash for entrance fees, parking and toilets, which are not included in the price. And at religious sites remember the dress code, so you will not have to buy a sarong at the entrance.

What to know before you book
Is the price per person or per vehicle?
Per vehicle and per day. There is no surcharge by the number of passengers, as long as you are within the vehicle's capacity.
How many hours are included in the day?
A standard working day is eight to ten hours. A longer route is possible, and we will confirm a rate for you in advance.
Does the driver speak Hebrew?
The drivers are local and speak basic English. The coordination and the route are settled with us in advance, in Hebrew.
Can the route be changed during the day?
Yes. That is the main advantage of a driver for the day: the stops are not locked in advance.
Are entrance fees to the sites included?
No. The price includes the vehicle, the driver, fuel and tolls. Entry, parking and meals are separate.
What is the difference between a driver for the day and a transfer?
A transfer is a single point-to-point drive, from the airport to the hotel, or from Bangkok to Pattaya. A driver for the day is a vehicle and driver that stay with you throughout the day, wait at every stop and drive you to the next stop. If you have only one destination, a transfer is better value.
Can we go with the driver to Ayutthaya, the floating market or Kanchanaburi?
